The Pharaoh Hound is quite successful in dog racing and other kinds of dog sports. Representatives of this breed do not like to live in a cage, they can even become frustrated. It is highly important to socialize a Pharaoh Hound at puppyhood. Comparable Breeds: The Ibizan Hound and Cirneco dell’Etna. However, if Pharaohs do not feel threatened, they are not dangerous. The Pharaoh Hound is cheerful, calm and has an independent mind. Since this dog breed does very well with children, it would be the best companion for a growing child. On the other hand, Pharaoh Hounds do not trust strangers. Pharaoh Hounds are not recommended for families with cats or other small pets because these dogs are distinguished with highly developed hunting instinct. The Pharaoh Hound was officially recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1983. The Pharaoh Hound is an intelligent dog, well-mannered by nature.
